Rising prices for organic groceries are prompting some consumers to question their devotion to food produced without pesticides, chemical fertilizers or antibiotics. In some parts of the country, a loaf of organic bread can cost $4.50, a pound of pasta has hit $3, and organic milk is closing in on $7 a gallon.

April 30, 2008, 2:35 p.m.What the world needs is food that the common man/woman can afford. I have always argued that every option should be on the table when it comes to dealing with food shortages. Excluding solutions such as crop genetic engineering, I think is the worst thing to do. Let's sober up on this debate. Let's not allow emotions to rule us. Biotech companies such as Monsanto and DuPont ought to be criticized, but in a constructive manner.
