Dec. 13, 2006, 9:11 a.m.To regain the confidence of people, Taco Bell and Taco Johns will need to let people the cause of the E. coli outbreak. The president can't simply say that the restaurants are safe when so many people got sick to begin with. Were all the foods tested?

Dec. 13, 2006, 11:32 a.m.I have only eaten at a Taco Bell once or twice probably in the past 5 years. Taco Bells in my area have had issues with people getting sick from the food. In fact, there was one instance in which the employees had actually put fecal matter in the food. While this may have been an isolated incident, I don't trust Taco Bell, and don't plan to eat there anymore.

Dec. 13, 2006, 1:29 p.m.I'm not the brightest light bulb in the pack, is one thing common with all the outbreaks of E. coli. This problem is just the tip of the ice. Anybody from anyplace can work, and no health test to work. I think E. coli will be one of the least problems of health.

Dec. 13, 2006, 1:34 p.m.Well I'm sure you all remember the oubreaks from the spinach bags months back....Taco bell uses a lot of veggies in their fixings. Employees don't wash the produce, they just take it from the fridge and start use...I think that this practice needs to be evaluated by Taco Bell and other food chains...wash the produce with a safe solution that will kill germs...

Dec. 13, 2006, 6:12 p.m.It's ENTIRELY possible to wash E. coli off of spinach, and the contamination DOESN'T come from cattle, but from people picking produce post-pooping.
How many port-o-lets have you seen at a farm being picked by migrants?
I thought so.

Dec. 13, 2006, 6:10 p.m.Makes you wonder about the filthy poopy palmed people picking the produce, huh?
But everyday I dream of eating at Taco Bell, rather than my choice of forty different traditional potato dishes at the cafe.
Please send soft tacos and chilitos to Lithuania!
Oh yeah, two beef chalupas, too.

Dec. 13, 2006, 8:23 p.m.Cross-contamination could be a factor, but it isn't just one restaurant. It's 71 cases spread across 5 states. Wouldn't that indicate something more than an isolated case of cross-contamination?

Dec. 14, 2006, 4:25 a.m.Isn't there a better way to narrow it down?
Is it also possible that such contamination could come from the use of their Sour Cream caulk gun contraption? It's about the only other thing I can think of that's used on almost everything Taco Bell serves.
